A Macon woman was shot while driving on Broadway early this morning as she fled from two gunmen.

Romi Jefferson told officers she was stopped at the intersection of Broadway and Mead Road when she noticed two men on the side of the road at about 12:25 a.m.

She thought they were about to cross the street but when she realized they had guns and were approaching her car she drove off, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.

The men opened fire and wounded her in the left leg as she drove off, the release stated.

Jefferson called 911 and came up on a police officer at the intersection of Eisenhower Parkway and she was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

She described the shooters as two black men dressed in dark clothing who had something black covering their faces.
