WARNER ROBINS -- Police are investigating the drowning late Wednesday of a 4-year-old boy in a pond on Osigian Boulevard, Warner Robins police Sgt. Scott McSwain said today.

Police and fire department officials responded to a call about a possible drowning in the 400 block of Osigian at 9:03 p.m.

The boy had walked to the pond with his sister, police said in a news release issued today. The sister saw her brother enter the pond and go under the water, police reported.

The girl began to scream after her brother did not resurface for a few minutes, police said, and a 16-year-old boy heard her and called 911. The 16-year-old attempted to locate the victim in the water but was unsuccessful, according to the news release.

The emergency agencies arrived at the pond and Warner Robins police officer Josh Wilcox located the child unconscious at the bottom of the pond, police said.

Wilcox administered emergency medical treatment through CPR, McSwain said, but the child was pronounced dead at Houston Medical Center.

The Warner Robins Police Department and the Houston County Juvenile Division are investigating the incident.
