The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for a handful of counties in Middle Georgia.

Bibb County is under the warning until 4:45 p.m., while Houston, Peach and Macon counties are under a warning until 5 p.m.

At 3:51 p.m., National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing penny-sized hail and damaging winds up to 60 mph. The storm was located five miles southwest of Dry Branch and was moving northwest at 15 mph.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds, continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring with the storm.

Weather officials warn residents to stay inside.
