Westside students return to school at Rutland

The Westside student body was moved to both the Rutland High School and Rutland Middle School campuses after Sunday's storms damaged thew Westside building.

Hundreds of Westside High School students returned to class at Rutland High School this morning in Bibb County.

The school day began at 7:30 a.m., with an assembly in the gymnasium.

Westside Principal Laura Perkins corralled student to their classes like an announcer on the Price in Right.

Perkins individually called teachers by and and told their students to "come on down" to the basketball court to be escorted to their classrooms.

Westside sustained damage from Sunday's storms and won't reopen until the next academic year begins in August. Rutland and Westside and sharing the same campus -- attending school on alternate days -- to finish out the school year.
