Quaneshia Miley remembers when she heard her first Michael Jackson song. It was “Who’s Lovin’ You” by the Jackson 5.

“I will truly miss him and his music,” said Miley, a junior at Northeast High School.

Months after Jackson’s death June 25, his family and record label have released footage from concert rehearsals as a movie. The movie features the last footage of Jackson alive and practicing.

Many teens plan to see the movie, which came out last week, and many do not.

“I am definitely going to see the movie,” said Travon Evans, a senior at Greene County High School who pre-purchased a ticket. “I have to go and see it because I am an huge Michael Jackson fan. I just feel that if I do not go and see it I will not be a true fan.”

Darryus Kinder, a junior at Northeast High said he does not plan to see the movie.

“Although I am a big fan of him, I will not be going to see the Michael Jackson film because I have already seen all his videos, so I do not really want to go to the movies just to watch a film of him dancing and singing around the stage.”

This year Northeast held a Michael Jackson day as part of its spirit week. Many students and teachers showed how much they loved him. Students dressed up as him when he was in the Jackson 5 up until him in 2009.

“I loved the way Jackson dressed, he was always unique and very bold, which is how I am. I think of his fashion choices when I get dressed everyday,” said Shavisia Purham, a senior at Northeast.

Alissa Smith is a junior at Northeast High School.
