FACES & PLACES: Alexander named administrator

Mary Alexander has been appointed administrator for the Macon-Bibb County Health Department. She succeeds Ecleamus L. Ricks, who retired Oct. 1.

Alexander has 29 years of experience within the public health sector. She has previous career experience with both the North Central Health District and the Macon-Bibb County Health Department. Alexander is also a graduate of Georgia College & State University, where she obtained a master’s degree in business administration.

Chick-fil-A manager honored

The Warner Robins Area Chamber’s Small Business of the Month Committee presented Julian Lashley, service manager for Chick-fil-A, with the Outstanding Employee Award for the month of October. After being with Chick-fil-A store No. 804 for nearly a year, Lashley has made a lasting impression on many of the customers who visit each day.

General manager Michael Lewis says that Lashley has great customer service skills and always is willing to help out in any way. Owner Pat Braski also speaks highly of Lashley, saying that he is a valuable asset to Chick-fil-A and to community for his great service and eagerness to help.

Macon attorney opens new Dublin location

Lester Miller of Lester M. Miller Attorney at Law has opened an office at 120 S. Monroe St. in downtown Dublin, a few blocks from the courthouse.

Miller has served the Middle Georgia area for more than 15 years. Along with his legal team, Miller provides representation for individuals involved in all aspects of litigation, personal injury, worker’s compensation claims and wrongful death lawsuits, as well as criminal and domestic legal issues. Miller chose to expand in the Dublin area because of the area’s significant growth and the need for more legal representation options for area residents and businesses.

Miller’s office in Macon is at 577 Mulberry St., Suite 110.

Frito-Lay honors local ‘Million Miler’ drivers

Frito-Lay is recognizing this year’s Million Miler Class as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. The Plano, Texas-based snack seller is recognizing 95 drivers who have been accident-free for a million miles driven. Eight of them are from the Frito-Lay facility in Perry.

The Perry “Million Milers” are Jeffery Allen, John Barrett, Fred Cook, Mark Poff, Keith Robbins and Timothy Vickers. Javier Hernandez and Nancy Scott reached 2 million miles.

“This week, Frito-Lay celebrates the men and women who safely move our snacks across the country every day,” said Bill Simkins, national fleet safety manager, Frito-Lay North America. “Driving 1 million or more accident-free miles is an incredible achievement, and we are grateful for their commitment to safety.”

Frito-Lay North America is the $12 billion convenient foods business unit of PepsiCo, which is headquartered in Purchase, NY.

Military Affairs Committee holds annual fall social

The Military Affairs Committee of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual fall social for the general of the Warner Robins Air Logistic Center and her staff at Robins Air Force Base. The social was held Oct. 5 at the Buzzard’s Roost.

This event is to give the Perry Military Affairs Committee an opportunity to get to know the ALC commander and the senior staff in a more personal manner.

Art Grady, the chair of the Military Affairs Committee, presented Pat Bartness with a $500 donation to the Museum of Aviation. Grady also presented Maj. Gen. Polly Peyer with $1,700 for the Airman’s & Family Readiness Center. This organization helps to support the families of deployed service men and women.
