Anyone interested in spending $25 for a chance on a new car only has a few hours left.
A car raffle for a 2010 Toyota Camry to support United Way of Central Georgia will be held today at Butler Toyota, 4580 Riverside Drive. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the car dealership until 4 p.m. when the drawing begins, said Judy Quinlan, United Way executive vice president of communications. Music will begin and food will be available starting at 3 p.m., she said.
Last month, organizers announced United Way’s plans to raise $4.22 million during its annual campaign, when it kicked off its four-month fundraising drive to raise money for 77 local health and human service programs.
“(The agency) is about 30 percent done, and there are a whole lot of campaigns right at the end stage right now,” said Ron Watson, president and CEO of the Middle Georgia agency. “For the (companies) that have finished, we are slightly ahead of last year for the same accounts. It’s difficult to tell (how it will turn out) but encouraging.”
The fundraising campaign at Geico, which is expected to wrap up in a couple of weeks, is going well, he said.
“They will be the largest corporate gift and the largest employee gift,” he said. “They are the largest in central Georgia by far.”
