AT&T announced the availability of its 3G mobile broadband network to cover more than 750 square miles across Middle Georgia.

The 3G network, or “third generation” wireless broadband, offers better data streaming across Macon, Warner Robins, Perry and Fort Valley, according to a news release.

Among the advantages of the upgrade: Faster wireless Internet surfing, text-messaging-while-talking capability and live-video sharing while calling.

The network extension is part of AT&T’s ongoing efforts to drive innovation and investment to deliver the benefits of smartphones and mobile broadband for customers, the release stated.

While the service has been available for about a month, the company officially announces the launch at 9 a.m. today at its store at 4795 Riverside Drive in Macon.

Information from The Telegraph’s archives was used in this report.
