Macon Mall will celebrate the grand opening of Art Space in the mall’s east wing with a series of art and children’s events today, including trick-or-treating, wood-turning demonstrations, music and more.
Some of the entertainment includes: dancing demonstrations by Paula East, with the public invited to join in from 7 to 8 p.m.; a Funga Steel Drum performance at 1 p.m.; and a “Tribute to Michael Jackson” by Phillips Performing Arts Group at 3 p.m., with “Thriller” performances at 7 and 8 p.m. Children under age 12 can trick-or-treat from 4-6 p.m. with tenants displaying an orange pumpkin in their store windows. Trick-or-treaters are asked not to wear masks.
Also, children under 14 can “Create a Masterpiece,” with art displayed in the east corridors through the holiday season. And the whole family can join in for “Kindermusic,” a musical “learning experience” that features singing, assorted movement, story time and more, according to a mall news release.
Once completed, Art Space, a “community of art tenants,” is expected to consist of at least 13 retail spaces, officials said.
