Marietta-based Courier Express has opened an office in Macon.

The privately owned company has located a regional distribution center in about 2,000 square feet at 750 Baconsfield Drive, said regional account manager Andy Flanagan.

“We deliver small packages all the way up to tractor-trailer loads,” Flanagan said.

The Macon office has five employees now, but the company hopes to expand in the future, he said. The company has offices in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama and Florida.

It had two main reasons to put an office in Macon, he said.

“The access to the interstates is great,” he said. “And the second thing is we have several large customers that required us to have a location there.”

Courier Express was founded in 1985 in Atlanta, according to the company’s Web site. Companywide, it has 180 office and warehouse employees, 111 freight drivers and 500 independent contract drivers.
