BLECKLEY COUNTY HIGH VALEDICTORIAN: Juliette Grantham, daughter of Karen Grantham and the late Jon Grantham. Juliette is a member of the tennis team, is editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, and is a UGA Certificate of Merit recipient and STAR Student. <b>Student beats cancer, will graduate high school:</b> Mitchell Mock was 13 years old when he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.<p> Now, the Jones County High School senior is preparing to graduate and is pursuing a career as a registered nurse. It&#x92;s a career that will allow Mock to care for others, just as he has been helped over the years.<p> The teenager was in shock when doctors gave him the life-altering news.<p> &#x93;I was scared and did not know what to do, other than cry,&#x94; he said.<p> Doctors removed the tumor, but they encountered complications. As a result, Mock is deaf in his left ear and, for a while, his swallowing, vision and motor skills were impaired. After several months, everything healed except his hearing.<p> Now, Mock is grateful for the past six years and life experiences, such as his sister&#x92;s wedding, the birth of his niece, his senior prom -- and now graduation. He looks forward to more moments like those, starting with attending college.<p> &#x93;I have won the battle with cancer,&#x94; he said. Now, he has been given the chance &#x93;to make difference in someone else&#x92;s life and pay my blessings forward.&#x94;
